First Winter Last is screening at the 2009 Women in Film Festival on Sunday, March 8th, 3:00pm, at the BC Women's Hospital Theatre, 4500 Oak Street, Vancouver. 

Monday Magazine, Victoria's award-winning alternative newspaper has nominated me for an "M" Award in the category of Favorite Filmmaker.  The M awards recognize Victoria's visual, literary and performing artists.  Please vote for me here by 5 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2009.

I am thrilled to announce that my film won the prestigious Grand Jury Prize ($4,000) for Best Canadian Fiction! Comprised of five programmers from renowned international film festivals, the Migrations Jury judged the film entries based on relevancy to theme, originality, artistic value, and technical quality.

First Winter Last has been short-listed in the Radio Canada International's Migr@tions Competition and will be screened on the Internet from  Oct. 30 - Nov. 7, 2008 (Quarter Final 3.)

Migr@tions is an online contest presenting short films and podcasts from 22 countries on the theme of immigration issues. Each week, films with the lowest ratings from Web users will be eliminated. The competion is scheduled from Oct. 16 - Dec. 3rd, 2008.
